Get Ready to Indulge in Newport Beach Restaurant Week

Newport Beach Restaurant Week starts Friday, January 21, and we can’t wait to savor the sensational cuisine avalable on the prix fixe menus of nearly 75 restaurants. Well, maybe we can’t get to all 75, but we intend to hit as many as we can.

NB Restaurant Week had a fabulous kick-off event last Thursday at Pelican Hill Resort (their Andrea Restaurant was our favorite dining experience of 2010), with Mayor Mike Henn welcoming hungry onlookers to the event, which featured samplings of several signature dishes.

Today, chefs from various NB restaurants offered cooking demos at Bloomingdale’s Home Store at Fashion Island, including Chef Zov Karamardian, owner of Zov’s Bistro in Newport Coast (she also has locations in Tustin and Irvine). Zov prepared two of her signature dishes–a chopped cabbage salad, and zuccini fritters with gravlax–and then handed out samples to her adoring audience.  Check out the photos below to watch Zov in action.

Newport Beach Restaurant Week runs Friday, January 21st through Thursday, January 27th, 2011. Nearly 75 of Newport Beach’s finest eateries will participate for a full week in this citywide culinary celebration, serving up special prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus at bargain prices.

Most restaurants will offer a minimum of three offerings per course, thereby giving the dining community an incredible opportunity to enjoy exceptional food prepared by the hottest Newport Beach Chefs.
